The world 10 busiest cargo handling airports grew the amount of freight shifted in 2020, shrugging off an overall decline in volumes in the sector.
ACI World’s preliminary world airport traffic rankings show that cargo volumes at the 10 busiest airports grew by 3 per cent during the year of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Despite handling 28 per cent of global volumes with 30.6 million tonnes, the growth was not enough to avert an overall decrease for the global air cargo sector, which saw an 8.9 per cent decrease in volumes to 109 million tonnes.
