Volga-Dnepr delivers crankshaft from Mexico to India

Volga-Dnepr Airlines has organised the delivery of a crankshaft from Apodaca, Nuevo León, Mexico, to Mumbai, India utilising an IL-76TD-90VD freighter aircraft.

The oversized shipment was chartered by DHL Global Forwarding for the 38-ton shipment, which had been packaged in a seven-metre long box alongside some support equipment required for loading.

Volga-Dnepr charter cargo operations deputy commercial director, Ekaterina Andreeva said: “The transportation of this crankshaft is another demonstration of our commitment to our customers in the energy and heavy machinery sector.

“With our expertise in the transportation of oversized cargo, our specialized equipment and our experience in meeting tight schedules, we were able to operate this Apodaca to Mumbai flight efficiently.

“Our unique ramp-loading IL-76TD-90VD freighter is equipped with onboard cranes and winches which facilitate optimized loading. Our aircraft, equipped with modern engines and unrestricted for global operations, secure extended opportunities for us to satisfy the market demands of the energy sector.”

In the first nine months of 2018, Volga-Dnepr has recorded an increase of six per cent in cargo transportation for the energy and heavy machinery industry.
