Turkish Cargo helps settle endangered white rhinos in new home

Turkish Cargo has flown five endangered white rhions to their new home in Shanghai from Johannesburg via Istanbul Ataturk Airport utilising the carrier’s specialist live animals resources.

The white rhinos each weigh one tonne and they grow under supervision until they reach the age of three due to their endangered nature, and they arrived at their new homes smoothly.

White rhinos were once a common species, but are now endangered due to illegal hunting for their horns. There are thought to be somewhere beteen 19,000 and 21,000 left, all in Southern Africa.

Through this operation performed to Shanghai by Turkish Cargo, the carrier said it is aiming to “enhance the awareness level of the Chinese people on the effect of illegal hunting on natural life balance, and the endangered species of white rhino”.
