Cargo Handling

Swissport’s cargo volumes up 5% in first half of 2018

Swissport International’s cargo volumes increased by five per cent to 2.3 million tonnes in the first half of 2018 while cargo revenue was up 7.3 per cent to €0.26 billion.

The company’s overall revenue climbed 4.1 per cent to €1.43 billion while EBITDA reached 116.3 million up 35.5 per cent compared to the same six months last year and the ground handling business posted revenue of 1.17 billion up 3.4 per cent.

Swissport said in the first half of 2018 it continued its trajectory of profitable growth and the positive development can be attributed to organic growth, with most regions profiting from increased global economic activity while it was boosted by the contribution of Aerocare following the company’s acquisition in March 2018.

Swissport group president and chief executive officer, Eric Born said: “Swissport continues to deliver value by focusing on profitable growth.

“A mix of organic growth, our acquisition of Aerocare, the disciplined restructuring of underperforming operations and the exit from continuously loss-making activities, contributed to the favorable results.”
