Strong 2018 for Luxembourg Airport

Cargo tonnage at Luxembourg Airport grew to their highest figure in 2018 as 957,000 tonnes were handled by LuxairCARGO – a two per cent uplift on 2017.

The verticals driving the growth were pharmaceuticals and live animals, as pharma increased 22 per cent to 36,830 tonnes, while 2,524 horses were handled up 58 per cent and imports rising by five per cent representing a surplus of 21,800 tonnes.

The airport said that the imbalance between inbound and outbound cargo of previous years was reduced “to a more or less balanced level.”

Growing demand was met by the addition of four additional widebody handling positions in November 2018, increasing ramp handling capacity by 50 per cent.

Aircraft rotations increased by six per cent to 6,675 turnarounds, including the Boeing 777Fs and 747-8Fs increased by 10 per cent.
