Slight tonnage fall in May at Frankfurt Airport

Frankfurt Airport’s tonnage fell by 1.6 per cent in May to 181,117 tonnes, but in the first five months of the year it is up slightly by 0.1 per cent to 895,080 tonnes.

Operator Fraport’s other gateways posted positive freight results in the main, as Ljubljana Airport in Slovenia handled 1,026 tonnes last month up by 1.7 per cent, and tonnage is up 9.1 per cent so far in 2018 to 5,032 tonnes.

Down in Brazil, Fortaleza Airport’s tonnage was up 17.6 per cent in May to 3,825 tonnes, but up a significant 22.5 per cent in the first five months of the year to 17,551 tonnes.

Fellow Brazilian gateway Porto Alegre saw tonnage grow 46.3 per cent last month to 2,819 tonnes and a massive 78.5 per cent in 2018 to date at 14,969 tonnes.

In Peru, Lima Airport’s tonnage was up 4.8 per cent in May to 22,357 tonnes and so far this year it is up 6.9 per cent to 109,841 tonnes.

At Fraport’s equity consolidated airports, Hannover Airport’s tonnage fell  by 16.7 per cent in May to 1,039 tonnes and is down so far this year by 0.8 per cent to 7,678 tonnes.

Xian Airport in China saw 5.5 per cent growth in tonnage to 23,832 tonnes in May and in the first five months of the year cargo is up 9.2 per cent to 110,149 tonnes.
