Oman Aviation Services (OAS) has become the latest organisation to adopt TIACA’s new Cargo Service Quality (CSQ) tool – which aims to improve standards across the global air cargo industry.
OAS, based in Muscat, Oman, has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with TIACA, pledging to work together with the association to promote air cargo growth in the Middle East.
“The MoU comes at an exciting time for OAS, as the opening of their new cargo terminal is tangible evidence of the importance of Oman’s growing role in the regional and global cargo landscape,” said TIACA secretary general, Vladimir Zubkov.
“We are very happy to have found TIACA as a partner of ours as we see great potential in the development of our cargo business,” added OAS chief executive officer, Khalfan Al Shueili.
Last month it was announced that Kenya would become the first country in the world to adopt CSQ, which was launched last year by TIACA Board members following a trial in the summer.
Over 179 forwarders and 18 airports around the world took part in the trial, and TIACA has now taken steps towards full global implementation, as well as extend the initiative to all segments of the air cargo supply chain.
In order to raise cargo service standards, the tool is made up of four parts: benchmarking, assessment, improvement, and excellence.
The tool allows participating cargo terminals to provide ratings on several factors including process, technology, facilities, regulators, and general airport infrastructure, among other variables.
