Menzies Aviation renews handling contract with Air China in San Francisco

Menzies Aviation has renewed a cargo handling contract with Air China at San Francisco International Airport.

The three-year cargo contract will see it handle over 8000 tonnes per year for the Chinese flag carrier on its flights from Beijing Capital International Airport.

Air China is one of Menzies’ largest cargo customers in the Americas region, where it has been a customer for over 25 years.

Menzies has also won a new three-year ground ground handling contract with Air China at Nice Airport in France which starts on 3 August 2019, and will see Menzies deliver a full suite of ground handling services on three weekly flights from Beijing Capital International Airport.

With this agreement, Menzies is expanding its ground handling capabilities at Nice Airport so that it can service both narrowbody and widebody aircraft, with Air China being the first widebody customer.

Whilst Air China is a new customer for Menzies in Southern Europe, Menzies already provides ground handling and cargo services to the airline at hubs including London Heathrow, Macau International Airport and most recently Los Angeles International Airport.

Menzies chief executive officer, Giles Wilson said: “This has been a significant year for our relationship with Air China, and we are delighted to be chosen as the airline’s trusted ground handling partner as it embarks on operations at Nice Airport.

“Winning our first widebody customer is an important step for Menzies at Nice Airport, and is a result of the continued hard work and dedication of the local ground handling team.

“We are delighted to extend our relationship with Air China in San Francisco, where we have been working together successfully for over 25 years. We are proud to receive this renewal for Air China and honoured to be their representative cargo handler for the next three years.

“We look forward to delivering the high standards of service we have committed to providing Air China across the globe.”
