MAB Kargo delivers medical gear to coronavirus-hit Chinese hospitals

Chartered freighter service provider MAB Kargo, also known as MASkargo, has announced it is delivering equipment, including protective gear, for use at hospitals in China combating the coronavirus.

The Malaysia Aviation Group subsidiary is delivering the vital medical supplies to hospitals in Hubei province – which is home to Wuhan, the city the virus originated in and where it is most prevalent.

The goods were loaded onto flight MH386 from Kuala Lumpur to Shanghai Pudong as part of a collaboration with local relief organisation #OpsHarapan, which recently launched a donation initiative in Malaysia to collect medical supplies to help hospital staff protect themselves against the coronavirus.

Ibrahim Mohamed Salleh, chief executive of MASkargo, commented: “MASkargo is honoured to partner #OpsHarapan in transporting these supplies together with our sister company, Malaysia Airlines.

“We operate into China daily and we greatly empathise with the predicament the country is currently facing including challenges in travel into and out of China.

“We will ensure that the supplies, consisting of surgical masks, N95 masks, surgical gloves among others, reach the respective hospitals and will help the doctors and nurses carry out their duties safely.

“We have been part of many relief aid missions, the recent ones being for victims of Taal Volcano eruption in Manila and also bushfire victims in Australia. Our logistics support network has allowed us to move efficiently and in quick time to help those in need,” he added.
