Cargo Handling

LuxairCARGO cargo volumes decreased in 2019

The overall cargo volumes at Luxembourg Airport during 2019 decreased by 6.7% to a total of 893,090 tons handled exclusively by LuxairCARGO.

Highlights during 2019:
By the end of last year, LuxairCARGO has completed the GDP recertification for the in-house Pharma Center. Luxembourg Airport has been the first air cargo platform in 2014 where all the stakeholders (Carrier, Ground Handler, Forwarder & Trucking Company) have been GDP certified. This is now the 2nd recertification after gaining the initial certificate in 2013.

During 2019 the digitalization project of the ramp activity has been concluded with as result that all processes have become paperless and are monitored live. The aim of the project was to get more visibility and structure to the processes. The accurate data is now also interfaced for invoicing purposes eliminating manual collection and verification of information.

On the AVI side, our Special Services Team registered an increase of 7% of horses transiting through our upgraded life animal station. The upgrade includes a new ungulate handling station as well as a cubicle for the accompanying grooms.
