Japan Airlines inks codeshare agreement with Kalitta Air

Japan Airlines has launched a scheduled freighter codeshare agreement with US air cargo operator Kalitta Air.

The agreement will see Kalitta operating three times a week between Tokyo-Narita International Airport and Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

The services between Tokyo and Chicago began on 1 August and are being operated by one of Kalitta Air’s Boeing 747-400Fs.

The services leave Chicago on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, before arriving in Tokyo the next day after a technical stop at Anchorage International Airport in Alaska.

Over the years, Japan Airlines has chartered freighter flights after retiring its own freighter fleet. These have been based on seasonal demand, whereas this agreement will offer scheduled services between Asia and North America.
