IATA WCS: Jettainer starts WAMOS Air contract and wins cool American deal

ULD outsourcing company Jettainer has taken over the container management and maintenance for Spanish carrier WAMOS Air, the company has announced at IATA’s World Cargo Symposium in Singapore today.

The contract with the Spanish airline based in Madrid has a five-year term. The fleet of the former Pullmantur Air consists of seven Airbus A330-200 and five Boeing 747-400 aircraft.

The WAMOS Air fleet is primarily used for leisure charter services. Some of these flights are operated on behalf of its sister company Pullmantur Cruises from Madrid-Barajas Airport.

In addition, WAMOS is also taking over charter flights for LATAM, Avianca and other major carriers. In summer WAMOS Air operates charter flights for the airline Condor, which has already outsourced its ULD management to Jettainer in 2006.

“WAMOS Air is specialized on charter and ad hoc-flights, which requires utmost flexibility. For this purpose we are happy starting a partnership with Jettainer in ULD Management.

“Their flexibility and airline experience gives us the utmost reliability we need in our business,” said WAMOS Air ground OPS & commercial routes director, Salvador Martínez Prados.

WAMOS Air is the second Spanish airline to choose Jettainer for ULD management. “As an up-and-coming airline, WAMOS Air ideally complements our customer base. At the same time, this expansion will help to further strengthen our global network. We look forward to launching another long-term partnership,” added Jettainer managing director, Carsten Hernig.

Meanwhile, Jettainer also announced at WCS in Singapore that American Airlines has signed up with its Cool Management service to run its entire fleet of reefer containers.

The airline now has access to Jettainer’s own Cool Center of Excellence in Abu Dhabi, where it manages temperature-controlled ULDs. The Cool Management service includes the leasing, managing, positioning and process-related monitoring of reefers.

Hernig said: “The management of reefer containers is a very complex part of ULD management. With our expertise in global ULD management, we can help increase efficiency between all supply chain participants in this process as well. We are optimistic that we will be able to further expand this service.”

Jettainer is also celebrating its 15th anniversary and held a ceremony at IATA’s World Cargo Symposium in Singapore today to mark the milestone.
