IATA: e-AWB monthly rate falls 1.3% in November

The electronic air waybill (e-AWB) penetration rate reached 57.2 per cent in November 2018 – a 1.3 per cent fall on October and well below the 2018 end-of-year target of 68 per cent, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in its monthly report.

The top two performing airlines by e-AWB penetration rate were once again flydubai with 100 per cent and second was Kenya Airways at 97.3 per cent and by volume the Cathay Pacific Group had a penetration rate of 88.1 per cent and second was Lufthansa Cargo at 71.2 per cent.

The top two freight forwarders by penetration rate were DHL Express at 75.1 per cent and second was Expeditors Group at 74.9 per cent and by volume were DHL Global Forwarding at 68 per cent and Schenker with 74.9 per cent.

In October the top two airports by e-AWB volume were Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 61 per cent and Hong Kong International Airport at 68.9 per cent.

The top four countries of origin by e-AWB volume were China at 62 per cent, the US at 49.8 per cent, Hong Kong at 68.9 per cent and then Germany at 55.9 per cent.
