Fans and spectators of the Spielvereinigung Bayreuth will find a new colour on the yellow and black jerseys of the ‘Altstadt’ in the future: orange with the letters GW.
GW is backed by the international transport and logistics company Gebrüder Weiss. The company, which has recently been present in Bayreuth, is now a gold sponsor of the traditional club.
The new partnership was sealed on 1 August between SpVgg Managing Director Jörg Schmalfuß and Werner Dettenthaler, Managing Director Land Transport Germany at Gebrüder Weiss.
Recently, the logistics company took over the Bayreuth-based forwarding company Wedlich and thus took on the important role of logistics partner for the Upper Franconian economy.
“That’s why there was no question that we would also get involved in the game association,” said Dettenthaler at the signing of the contract in Bayreuth.
“We have a lot in common with the ‘Oldschdod’: team play, speed, precision and, above all, the joy of movement. We are pleased to support all teams and wish them a successful season.”
In addition to the 1st men’s football team, the logistics company also supports the youth and women’s teams of SpVgg Bayreuth.
“The Spielvereinigung is a football club with a history of over a hundred years, similar to our new supporter Gebrüder Weiss,” added Jörg Schmalfuß at the signing of the contract.
“Passionate dedication and skilful interplay between professionals for top performance – they go together, whether on the football pitch or on the transport routes.”
