Gatwick’s long-haul network leads to 32% boost in cargo

The expansion of Gatwick Airport’s long-haul network has led to double-digit growth in cargo.

10,316 tonnes of cargo was carried in October 2017, up 32.1% from the 7,807 carried in October 2016.

Due to Monarch’s collapse in October, passenger growth slowed in the month, yet the airport will still be happy regarding the uplift in cargo.

CEO of Gatwick, Stewart Wingate, stated “October’s soaring cargo growth is the latest by-product of Gatwick’s ever increasing long-haul network, providing passengers with more choice of connections globally.”
