Freight fall in June for Frankfurt Airport

Frankfurt Airport’s cargo traffic fell by 2.8 per cent to 182,911 tonnes in June, but tonnage levels were stable for the first half of the year.

Europe’s busiest freight hub by tonnage processed 1.1 million tonnes in the six months from January to June 2018, a 0.1 per cent rise on the same period in 2017.

Operator Fraport’s other gateways saw a mixed bag with Xi’an Airport in China up 14.3 per cent to 24,715 tonnes in June and up 10.1 per cent to 134,865 tonnes in the first half of the year.

Slovenia’s Ljubljana Airport saw a 2,3 per cent fall in June to 1,019 tonnes, but freight is up seven per cent to 6,051 tonnes in the first six months of the year.

Peru’s Lima Airport has grown strongly and in June cargo traffic increased by 8.3 per cent to 21,555 tonnes and by 7.1 per cent to 131,397 tonnes in the first half of 2018.
