FedEx ends ground-delivery deal with Amazon

FedEx has ended its ground delivery contract with Amazon as the e-commerce heavyweight competitor develops its own shipping network, according to reports.

Report claim the the ground-delivery contract with Amazon will not be renewed when it expires at the end of this month.

The decision means FedEx is severing more ties with the largest online retailer just two months after FedEx said that its express arm FedEx Express would not extend an agreement to fly Amazon’s packages in the U.S.

Reports claim that FedEx said the move and change is “consistent with our strategy to focus on the broader e-commerce market”.

The courier will still have a contract with Amazon for international deliveries.

Amazon made up about 1.3 per cent of FedEx’s sales last year.
