Fast Company names Zipline one of the world's most innovative companies

Zipline has been named to Fast Company’s prestigious annual list of 2022’s World’s Most Innovative Companies in the logistics category.

This year’s list honors businesses that are making the biggest impact on their industries and society as a whole, and thriving in today’s rapidly changing world.

These companies are creating the future with some of the most inspiring accomplishments of the 21st century. In addition to the World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies, 528 organizations are recognized across 52 categories.

“Instant logistics has the power to transform the way goods move in healthcare, commerce and beyond,” said Keller Rinaudo, founder and CEO of Zipline.

“For over five years, we’ve pioneered a new class of logistics to better serve our communities, but it’s just the start. We’re working toward a world in which everyone, no matter where they are, can instantly access the products they need with the simple push of a button.”

In the past year, Zipline has rapidly expanded operations, bringing the power of instant logistics to communities around the world.

Across the United States, the company is rapidly growing its footprint, delivering a wide array of products with Walmart in Northwestern Arkansas and launching partnerships with leading health organizations including Intermountain Healthcare, Magellan Rx Management, and Cardinal Health. In Japan, Zipline is working toward launching operations with Toyota Tsusho Corporation.

In Africa, Zipline has shown the transformative impact of instant logistics on a multi-national scale.

The company signed a deal with Ghana’s Ministry of Health to scale to four additional distribution centers covering 24 million people—bringing Zipline’s coverage to 90% of the country’s population.

Zipline also aided in Ghana’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution efforts, delivering over 850k COVID-19 vaccines with plans to distribute millions more.

In Rwanda, Zipline this year expanded into animal health, transporting sensitive cold-chain products for the agricultural economy instantly and on-demand.

The company also announced expansion into Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Kenya. Across the continent, Zipline’s operations serve as a beacon for how instant logistics can operate successfully at scale.

In addition to transforming health systems and creating better access to goods, Zipline’s global expansion means more communities are adopting a sustainable logistics system that meets the demands of the 21st century and beyond.

Zipline’s aircraft reduce carbon emissions by upwards of 98% when compared to standard modes of transportation, providing a pathway to more environmentally friendly logistics systems.

To date, Zipline has flown over 19 million miles, made nearly 270k deliveries, and delivered millions of products.

The World’s Most Innovative Companies is Fast Company’s signature franchise and one of its most highly anticipated editorial efforts of the year. It provides both a snapshot and a road map for the future of innovation across the most dynamic sectors of the economy.

“The world’s most innovative companies play an essential role in addressing the most pressing issues facing society, whether they’re fighting climate change by spurring decarbonization efforts, ameliorating the strain on supply chains, or helping us reconnect with one another over shared passions,” said Fast Company Deputy Editor David Lidsky.
