Double domestic expansion at Bromma Stockholm

The start-up regional airlines Skåneflyg and Västflyg are expanding the network of air routes in Sweden from Bromma Stockholm Airport and will launch direct service to Kristianstad and Trollhättan.

Starting in late March, both routes will again be served from Bromma Stockholm.

Before the pandemic, both Kristianstad and Trollhättan were included in Bromma Stockholm’s range of destinations on offer, but for the past two years the route has been unserved.

The start-up airline Skåneflyg is now launching service to Kristianstad, while Västflyg will fly to Trollhättan.

Late in 2020, Skåneflyg was started up by four entrepreneurs with roots in the area around Kristianstad and Österlen.

The airline will now resume scheduled service between the Swedish capital and eastern Scania.

The newly formed airline Västflyg was launched in November 2021 by three well-known entrepreneurs with roots in the region’s business community.

In late March, the first plane from Bromma Stockholm will also take off for Trollhättan-Vänersborg under the auspices of Västflyg.

The timetables for both routes will enable connecting flights suitable for business travellers, who are also expected to continue to represent the biggest share of passengers, although the percentage of leisure passengers is growing.

“We would like to wish Skåneflyg and Västflyg a warm welcome to Bromma,” says Elizabeth Axtelius, Director of Aviation Business at Swedavia.

“We are naturally pleased that access has once again been strengthened across Sweden and that airlines see opportunities in the market and dare to invest.

“In late March, non-stop service to Helsinki from Bromma will also be resumed.

“Now, with the easing of restrictions and demand on the rise, that points to increased travel, and the expanded range of routes available is a positive addition”.

Starting March 28, Skåneflyg will fly the route Bromma Stockholm Airport (BMA) – Kristianstad Österlen Airport (KID) with daily departures Monday–Friday and Sunday. The aircraft model serving the route is a SAAB 340 with seating for 33 passengers.

Tickets are now on sale, and Skåneflyg offers passengers the option of purchasing biofuel for their entire trip or parts of it via the Fly Green Fund.

Starting March 28, Västflyg will fly the route Bromma Stockholm Airport (BMA) – Trollhättan-Vänersborg Airport (THN) with daily departures Monday–Friday and Sunday.

The aircraft model serving the route is a SAAB 340 with seating for 33 passengers.

Tickets are now on sale, and Västflyg offers passengers the option of purchasing biofuel for their entire trip or parts of it via the Fly Green Fund.
