DB Schenker to work with IAM Robotics to bring robotics into its warehouses

Logistics firm DB Schenker is to collaborate with IAM Robotics to bring robotics logistics technology into its warehouse operations as it looks to meet changing demands from the growing e-commerce sector and develop warehouses of the future.

The two companies said the alliance would be a platform for the use of these advanced technologies aimed at helping shippers work smarter, better and faster.

IAM Robotics manufactures mobile piece-picking robots for warehouse automation and chief executive officer, Joel Reed said: “This is an exciting time for the logistics industry, where a lot of great technologies and solutions are emerging.

“This alliance blends perfectly with DB Schenker’s own initiatives and commitment to innovation and new technology in e-commerce.”

“This is a true collaboration in the sense that DB Schenker knows the logistics industry inside and out, and IAM Robotics has an incredible depth of technological knowledge and innovation,” said DB Schenker’s director of innovation and e-commerce, John Stikes.

“By bringing these two powerful forces together, we can challenge one another and come up with solutions that literally take warehousing to the next level.”
