Cargo tonnage fall at Heathrow Airport in November

Heathrow Airport’s cargo tonnage fell by six per cent in November to just over 150,000 tonnes.

The UK hub said despite the fall Brazil, China and Turkey performed strongly although regionally, North America, the Middle East and Africa also showed falls.

In the first 11 months of the year the airport has handled more than 1.55 million tonnes.

Heathrow has become the first UK airport to set out its plan for carbon neutral growth, outlining the role it will play on four key areas to reduce and offset carbon emissions from the growth in flights, created by an additional runway.

Network wise, last month, the airport announced it will be linked to Newquay for the first time as Flybe will start a new route next year while British Airways will also add a new daily service to Inverness.
