Athens International Airport awarded IATA CEIV Pharma certification

Athens International Airport has been awarded the IATA CEIV Pharma certification of recognition at the 2023 Airfreight Pharma conference in Athens.

Brendan Sullivan, IATA’s global head of cargo, presented the award to the airport’s manager of ground handling and cargo development, Alexis Sioris.

Sullivan said the awarding of the certification “shows the commitment to the community, to the stakeholders, that you’ve gone ahead and done this for yourselves, for the airport, for the community you serve”.

He added: “And that’s what these things are all about – making sure the we’ve got all those stakeholders together in the right room and that we’re designing these solutions and moving forward with our commitment to quality together.

“So with that, congratulations on your achievement. It’s not easy – I think anyone who has gone through the process recognises that and as we move forwards it’s not going to get any easier.”

Sioris said: “We did manage to convince the major players to take part, meaning the handlers and forwarding companies.

“We’re really, really happy [to have the certification], so thanks to our partners, our team. We look forward to the future.”
