AFKLMP transports historic Morane-Saulnier aircraft

Air France KLM Martinair Cargo transported a vintage Morane-Saulnier H aircraft on one of its Boeing 777 Freighters to Saint-Denis Roland Garros Airport on the island of Réunion in the Indian Ocean.

On 5 October, the airline marked a century since the death of French aviation pioneer Roland Garros (6 October 1888 – 5 October 1918), the person first to fly across the Mediterranean Sea. On 23 September 1913, Garros flew his Morane-Saulnier H from Fréjus in the south of France to Bizerte in Tunisia.

Numerous events were organised from 3 to 6 October on Réunion, as the island was the place of this passionate aviator’s birth. Just a few days ago, on 5 October, the Morane-Saulnier H even took to the air over Réunion to commemorate Roland Garros.

The aircraft is the last surviving Morane-Saulnier.
