AFKLMP brings digital solutions to pharmaceutical logistics

Air France KLM Martinair Cargo (AFKLMP) is investing in greater transparency for pharmaceutical shipments via its digital myCargo platform.

Clients across the carrier’s network can use myCargo to track the current temperature, the battery level in the dry ice units, and the voltage in the active containers during transit at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.

Global head of pharmaceutical logistics, Enrica Calonghi (pictured above) said customers can now get quotations, information about the latest and best deals, and do their booking via AFKL Cargo’s digital platform myCargo.

She added: “After a period of tests in several European countries we have started the rollout of this important tool, which we are already using widely for general cargo, also for pharmaceutical logistics.”

Calonghi said pharma containers are checked during contact points at both hubs, at the origin and destination, and AFKLMP wants to enable customers to monitor the checks and actions it has been performing. She added: “And, how cool it would be – pun intended – if we can expand the transparency of the temperature for all Pharma products on the short term.”

AFKLMP said that it expects to roll out the tool to increase visibility for all customers by the end of the year.
