Zurich-based Imperial Logistics International has appointed Sandro Knecht (pictured above left) to the newly-created post of chief commercial officer – who joins from CEVA Logistics.
He will report to recently-appointed chief executive officer, Hakan Bicil, and will be responsible for leading and managing business development, marketing and CRM, as well as the overall solutions offerings of the integrated outsourced logistics service provider.
Knecht’s first objective is the establishment of a new business development team to drive future growth and uncover new business opportunities.
This will include the recruitment of key industry-focused business development executives who will spearhead growth within sectors such as automotive, chemicals and industrial, leveraging its expertise in these areas.
Knecht joins from CEVA Logistics where he spent seven years in senior management positions – most recently as executive vice president – Global Supply Chain Solutions, and a member of the Global Business Development Board. Prior to that, he spent 17 years at Panalpina World Transport.
Bicil said: “Imperial Logistics’ future growth ambitions require us to build substantially on our existing international operations, both through organic growth and acquisition. The new, more effective sales and marketing structure which Sandro will engineer and lead is key to this process.
“We are delighted to welcome Sandro to our team. His impressive experience and track record in logistics and freight management equip him to play a major role in the future development of our business around the world.”
He added: “I am very excited to take on my new role at Imperial Logistics, and to share in the promising future that lays ahead for the company and its employees across all our geographies.
“Imperial Logistics’ solutions offering is already impressive, backed by a strong operational platform that provides a solid foundation for future growth. I look forward to joining my new colleagues across the Imperial Logistics network, and embarking on a journey which I know will be successful, rewarding and fun.”
