Bridges Worldwide starts new freighter flights from Cologne Bonn

Bridges Worldwide has started a five-weekly Boeing 737-400 Freighter flights connecting German gateway Cologne Bonn Airport with Malta and Larnaca, Cyprus.

Bridges Worldwide chief executive, Guy Bridges said: “With the introduction of this new route Bridges Worldwide is meeting the increasing uplift demands of the express cargo carriers and the German forwarder community.”

He added that the direct main deck capacity will meet demand for booming fish and perishable exports from Cyprus to Western Europe. The freighter is owned by Spanish cargo company Swiftair and provides capacity of 20 tonnes.

Cologne Bonn Airport chief executive, Johan Vanneste said the new freighter link shows the great cargo potential of the airport and the catchment area. Last year, the gateway handled 840,000 tonnes of cargo.
