Strong cargo results for the Aeroflot Group

The Aeroflot Group continues to handle increasing volumes of cargo as in September tonnage was up year-on-year (YOY) by 18.5 per cent and in the first nine months it was up YOY by 14.2 per cent.

Last month, the Group as a whole, which includes the airlines Aeroflot, Pobeda Airlines, Rossiya Airlines and Aurora, transported 28,282 tonnes of freight and in the first three quarters of 2018 they moved a combined 218,618 tonnes.

Revenue cargo tonne kilometres for the Group were up YOY by 10.4 per cent in September to 121.5 million, and in the first nine months of the year they were up YOY by 7.6 per cent to 938.5 million.

Despite the Group’s strong performance in September, Aeroflot alone saw cargo tonnage fall YOY by 0.7 per cent to 19,898 tonnes and in the first three quarters of the year, tonnage fell YOY by 1.1 per cent to 160,095 tonnes.

Revenue cargo tonne kilometres for Aeroflot were down YOY 0.4 per cent in September to 93.1 million, and in the first nine months of the year they were up YOY by 0.4 per cent to 754.8 million.

In September 2018, Aeroflot Group added four aircraft: one SSJ100, one Boeing 737-800, one Airbus А320 and one Boeing 777-300. One Boeing 737-800 was phased out. As of 30 September 2018, the Group fleet had 361 aircraft. Aeroflot airline added two aircraft: one SSJ100 and one Airbus А320. As of 30 September 2018, the company fleet had 250 aircraft.
